The EUMEDCONNECT2 network has dedicated points of presence (PoPs) in Catania, Sicily (managed by Consortium Garr), and Nicosia, Cyprus (managed by CyNet); some connections are direct to the GÉANT network.
Circuits range from 34 to 155 Mbps and are connected in each country to the national research and education network (NREN).
The network is managed 24x7 by a dedicated network operations centre based in the UK.
In addition to networking the Mediterranean countries together, the links to GÉANT also provide connections to:
- Research and education networks in over 30 European countries
- The major research networks in North America (Abilene, CANARIE, ESnet) and Japan (SINET)
- The South African research network, TENET
- The Indian research network, ERNET
- Research networks in Latin America via GÉANT's connection to the ALICE project
- Research networks in the Asia-Pacific region via GÉANT's connection to TEIN3
- Access to the commercial Internet (optional service, terms and conditions apply).
